Terms of Service

These Terms

These terms govern the use of editing.press, the website of Editing Press Inc. of Toronto, Ontario. Anyone who uses the website, or commissions work through it, accepts them. They were last revised on 11 October 2026.

Commissioned Work

Thorough Editing and General Proofreading may be commissioned on our Order page, where the contract is prepared and signed. Other work is commissioned by correspondence, on our quotation. The contract sets out the service, the fee, the turnaround, the revisions included and the confidentiality of the manuscript, and where it differs from these terms, the contract prevails.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the details they give with an order. We may decline any work without giving a reason.

Fees and Payment

Fees are those published on our service pages and shown on the Order page, or those given in our quotation. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe and are not seen or stored by Editing Press. The contract states any transaction fee for a card payment. Payments by bank transfer or Interac e-Transfer are made to the account details given with the order.

Refunds

We review any concern about the quality of our work, and where we judge the concern reasonable, we provide further editorial assistance at no extra cost. Fees are not refunded. Any payment we make to an author is at our discretion and is not an obligation.

Confidentiality and Authors’ Rights

Authors keep all rights in their work. Manuscripts are confidential, are read only by the editors engaged on the work, and are used solely for the work commissioned. We never share, disclose, reuse or publish any part of them. Section 5 of the contract sets out these obligations in full, and our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.

Academic Conduct

Our work on academic writing follows the code of practice on our Academic Conduct page and never assists academic misconduct. On request, we provide a certificate for an author’s institution stating that the editorial assistance received does not breach its rules of academic conduct.

Use of the Website

The content of the website may be read and printed for personal use, and may not otherwise be copied, reproduced or sold without our written permission. The website may not be used for any unlawful purpose, to send harmful code, to interfere with its security, to collect information about others, or to harass anyone. Links to other websites are given for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.

Changes to the Website and Fees

We may change the website, our services and our fees at any time, and we correct errors when we find them, including errors of price. An order placed on information that proves to be wrong, such as a mistaken price, may be cancelled, with any payment for it returned. A change of fee does not alter a contract already signed.

Liability

The website is provided as it is, and we do not promise that it will always be available or free of error. To the fullest extent the law allows, Editing Press and its directors, officers, employees, editors, contractors, agents and suppliers are not liable for any loss or damage, direct, indirect or consequential, arising from the use of the website or of our services. A visitor who breaches these terms will compensate Editing Press for any claim brought against it as a result, including legal costs.

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force. A failure to enforce any term does not waive it. We may stop providing our services to anyone who breaches these terms, and any amount already due remains payable. These terms, and every contract for our services, are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version on this page, which applies from the date it is posted.
